The Yakima Bears lost 3-1 to the Everett AquaSox Monday at Yakima County Stadium. The Bears went 1-4 against the AquaSox, making it the second-straight series the team has lost.

A pair of solo home runs was all the AquaSox needed in the end. Mike Zunino provided the first, a two-out blast in the first inning. Patrick Kivlehan led off the top of the fourth inning with a solo homer to make it a 2-0 game. The Bears got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kevin Medrano led off with a double and later scored from second on a two-out single from Joe Loftus. The only other run of the game came in the fifth, when a Zunino groundout plated Michael Faulker from third base.

Bears starting pitcher Alex Carreras had a quality start, but took the loss. Carreras allowed three runs on six hits and two walks in six innings. Derrick Stultz tossed a scoreless seventh inning and Jose Jose pitched a pair of shutout frames to finish the game.

The Bears were outhit 9-4 in the loss. Medrano went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. The Bears did reach on six walks in the game.

The Bears finished the first half of the season with a 21-16 record. The records will be reset for the second half Tuesday when the Bears start a six-game road trip to Boise and Spokane. The first of three games at Memorial Stadium in Boise, Idaho is scheduled for 6:15 pacific time. The Bears are expected to start left-handed pitcher Daniel Watts against Hawks right-handed pitcher Ian Dickson.
