John Riggs was born and raised in Yakima. He moved away from Washington state for about 10 years, but moved back home, bringing along his wife and three kids. You'll find John in town snapping photos when he's covering new business openings, especially restaurants. He loves to help spread the word, and to encourage folks to shop local first. John also loves to travel, always looking for quick weekend getaways, attending events, and fan expos around the country. Don't be too shy to say, "Hi!"

Wendy’s: “will not implement surge pricing,” says CEO
Hear me out.
What if a company that's generally liked by many makes an announcement telling people they're going to start temporarily raising prices of meal items during the busier times of day and the Internet, being the Internet, has a thing or two to say about it...
From a Tax Perspective, Washington is the Second Worst State to be Poor
Have you done your taxes, yet? Whether you're getting a tax refund or paying, doing your taxes is never fun.
Many people are chiming in that this is the first year some are even paying for the first time as often they get a refund. Especially it seems lower class and middle class family expected to pay higher than typical...
It’s Chocomania at your local Krispy Kreme this Month
Krispy Kreme is always doing something fun to keep you coming back for more. Just about any time of year they'll feature limited edition doughnuts for a little while until the next holiday comes up.
Right now, it's a chocoholic's paradise as the limited edition doughnuts are all made with Hershey's...
I Experienced the New ‘InBody’ Composition Scan at Yakima Athletic Club
The other day I heard about this new thing you can do at the Yakima Athletic Club called an InBody 570. It's so much more than just a scale. Think of it like a scale but instead of just a full-body weight it weighs each individual limb (each arm, each leg, etc) as well as water retention, muscle mass, and a lot more...
Wendy’s Planning on Price Surges Depending on Daily Demand
Ahh, supply and demand. Maybe you learned about this in social studies class. The idea that if more people are wanting it, the prices are raised as people will pay that premium.

7 Best Websites to File Your WA State Federal Taxes Online (Including Free Options)
It's about that time once again where we have to figure out how taxes work. I have a feeling that more people in the United States can explain the pythagrian therom or tell you the mitochondria is the powerhouse of a cell, but when it comes to doing your taxes, many are left kinda clueless...
These WA School Districts are Some of the Most Envied by Others
While it seems that school districts in our valley have to scrimp and save and fundraise just about everything we can to create a sense of normalcy for our children, there are some schools that are the envy of others, and for all the right reasons...
These Giant Cookies are Worth a Stop in Moses Lake, WA
I was on my way back from Spokane over the weekend where we decided to stop in Moses Lake. We actually like Moses Lake quite a bit as it has some cool shops and restaurants and it's nice for the drive back to Yakima as it breaks the trip up so instead of driving 3 straight hours it's right in the middle so an hour and a half there, then an hour and a half home...
Icy Tai has More than Just ‘Icy’ Treats in Yakima
Icy Thai may be one of those places you've seen before but never stopped in. Or maybe you did once when they first opened to experience what rolled ice cream was. Well, they've expanded their menu so even in the middle of winter they're still very-much-so worth a visit...
