April 27 is National Babe Ruth Day, which commemorates the day in 1947 that the New York Yankees invited the Great Bambino back to town to celebrate his amazing career.  Babe Ruth is one of the greatest baseball players ever.

George Herman Ruth Jr. started his career as a pitcher with the Boston Red Sox. He helped the Red Sox win three World Series in 1915, 1916 and 1918. He remained with the  Red Sox from 1914-1919.

His legend status didn't really come until he became a Yankee from 1920-1934. He helped the Yankees win the Series in 1923, 1927, 1928 and 1932.

He remains the home run champion for both teams. Babe Ruth is 'The King of Swing', the 'Sultan of Swat' and to most 'The Great Bambino.'

Babe Ruth, 'The King of Baseball' died on Aug.16, which ironically, is the same date that  Elvis 'The King of Rock 'n' Roll,' and Robert Johnson, 'The King of the Blues,' died.

Happy Babe Ruth Day -- may his name live on forever.
