Actor Craig T. Nelson has deep roots with Yakima Valley College.

Nelson, most known for his Emmy award-winning role on the hit television series "Coach" as well as film roles in "Poltergeist" and the "Incredibles," was born in Spokane before attending Central Washington University.

At Central, Nelson played baseball and quarterbacked the football team before dropping out to attend Yakima Valley College (then known as Yakima Valley Junior College).

During a recent press junket to promote the movie "Book Club," Nelson was interviewed by Kim Holcomb of KING 5-TV's "Evening" program. Holcomb, who also spent time working in Yakima, presented Nelson with a YVC t-shirt, which he seemed genuinely happy to receive.

He then explained how it was in Yakima that he found his passion for acting.
