3-2 Bears Win Evens Series Against Tri-City
The Yakima Bears beat the Tri-City Dust Devils 3-2 Wednesday night at Yakima County Stadium. The three-game series between the two is now even at 1-1.
After leaving four runners in scoring position in the first three innings, the Bears scored three runs in the fourth inning. Michael Lang and Yogey Perez-Ramos both hit RBI doubles and singles from Kevin Medrano and Ronnie Freeman helped get the third run across. That’s all the Bears would get against the Dust Devils starter, as Ben Hughes lasted six innings for a quality start, but took the loss.
Bears starting pitcher Blake Perry tossed five shutout innings to begin the game. Perry then gave up four singles in the sixth inning, which allowed two runs to score, and was removed for Victor Capellan. Capellan pitched an inning and a third without allowing a run. RJ Hively loaded the bases, but left them that way in the eighth to keep the Bears in front 3-2. Enrique Burgos then loaded the bases himself in the ninth before stranding the runners for his second save of the season. The win went to starter Blake Perry, who is 4-0 after going five and two thirds innings Wednesday.
The Bears outhit the Dust Devils 8-7 in the game, with three Bears batters finishing with a multi-hit game. Michael Lang went 3-for-4, Yogey Perez-Ramos finished 2-for-5, and Ronnie Freeman had a 2-for-4 game. All three of those hitters had a double, and a run batted in, while Perez-Ramos and Lang both scored a run as well.
The series concludes Thursday with a 7:05 game scheduled. A pair of right-handed pitchers are expected to start the game, with Derrick Stultz going for the Bears and Peter Tago throwing for the Dust Devils.
